Former CCMA VISTA Member Helps with Vaccine Rollout
Hannah Jacobs, former Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic P20 CONNECTS VISTA member and Interim AmeriCorps VISTA Leader began work with the Maryland Department of Health on the rollout of the critical SARS-Co-V-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) vaccine. During the four-week project Hannah will be serve on a 16-member AmeriCorps service team to support the Maryland Responds Medical Reserve (MRC) in vetting registered volunteers through the state’s electronic system, checking and answering the MRC general inbox for inquiries and status updates, answering calls from community members, and assisting with additional mission-critical requests, as needed.
Hannah was recruited to support the MRC by the Maryland Governor’s Office of Service and Volunteerism after receiving the Governor’s Service Award for AmeriCorps Alumni in 2020, for her outstanding service with CCMA. She is now serving as an AmeriCorps State and National member at BEACON House, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Hagerstown, dedicated to providing accessible STEAM education to underrepresented students throughout Washington and Frederick Counties.
