Congratulations Institutions with Carnegie Classification

February 11, 2020

CCMA congratulates the following institutions in our region for achieving the Carnegie Foundation’s Classification for Community Engagement for the first time:

  • Allegany College
  • George Washington University
  • Salisbury University
  • University of Maryland, Baltimore County

The Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement is a documentation of institutional practice when it comes to mission, identity, and commitments, and is a demanding peer-review process. It has been used for four and a half decades to recognize and describe US institutions of higher education. The above institutions are joining Georgetown University, Loyola University Maryland, University of Delaware, and Towson University in being designated Carnegie classified in our region. All of these institutions deserve congratulations since it is a sought-after designation and not easy to obtain.
