Community Equity Conversation: Don’t Look Away
June 10, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join CCMA for a Community Equity Conversation: Don’t Look Away via Zoom with Carmen Marshall to support our members as we create an open space for listening and put our values of equity and justice into action through reflective discussions.
This CCMA-facilitated conversation provides an open space for listening and discussing issues of equity and justice. Together with Carmen Marshall, we will set up a safe space to listen and address issues of structural racism and inequity.
We plan to have a series of three conversations. The first one is next Wednesday, June 10th at 10:00 am and is a CCMA-members only event.
Carmen Marshall is the Director of Consulting for Maryland Nonprofits. Informed by her work in civil rights, Carmen is dedicated to working with world changers – organizations and leaders – who are serious about making progress in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). “As a country, we don’t necessarily do a good job talking about racial issues. It’s hard. It challenges everyone to look at themselves and the systems of oppression that plague us. And, if we can’t bring ourselves to talk about it, then it becomes doubtful that we’ll do anything about it”, she says. Carmen is also the creator of Uncovering and Confronting Racism: Laying the Foundation for Transformative Change, a program designed to help organizations in their equity and inclusion work. Her work with CEOs, boards of directors and teams has earned her the reputation of peaceful gatekeeper and master facilitator.
