Assessing Diversity: Embracing Diversity & Building Intercultural Competence
March 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
Continuing our successful Fall 2020 Diversity Series with the University of the District of Columbia, these sessions will focus on assessment of the Diversity classroom. Join us for two days focusing on assessment, rubrics, and rubric calibration in diversity-centered classrooms. We will also look at extending this assessment to university diversity offices in general.
Session registration includes teaching assessment materials and a rubric calibration session with UDC’s Director of Institutional Assessment and Outcomes, Dr. Rebecca Graham. Drs. Kimberly Crews and Wynn Yarbrough will facilitate breakout groups with assessment activities from UDC’s IGED 270 Discovery Diversity class. Participants who attend both sessions will be able to extend this work to their own teaching, share it with colleagues, and work with their own diversity offices on campus.
The session on March 5th will include an introduction to teaching diversity and assessment, assessment exercises, followed by a rubric and sample share.
The session on March 12th will focus on rubric calibration using the UDC’s IGED 270 rubric and other samples. We will parallel AACU’s rubric calibrations.
Registration is for both sessions.
